If your PC is running slowly, then a clean installation of Windows 11 could be the best option to fix most of the problems like overheating, registry-related problems, a bunch of unwanted software and temporary files, and many more.
In addition, the most desirable features of Windows 11 i.e. couple of options greyed out (in most cases) are unable to turn on if you have upgraded it from Windows 10 to 11 unless you prefer to go for a clean installation of Windows 11.
The options are Memory integrity ( to prevent malicious code injections) and Microsoft Vulnerable Driver Blocklist to block drivers with security vulnerabilities in the Core isolation option of Windows Security.
Well, you probably want to upgrade or re-install a fresh copy Windows 11, right? Wait, ‘there is a headache bug to encounter during the installation of Windows 11 that is problematic if you do not have a proper guide to fix it.
In some critical cases, solutions available on the internet from other users may not solve your problem. Here is the well-tested method to fix the problem if you are stuck on using Rufus to create bootable media by downloading Windows 11 ISO files from the official site otherwise, there are plenty of resources and guides available on the internet. Here we just discuss the unique bug related to the “Login” problem.
The Password Incorrect Bug:
This bug appears when you install Windows 11. After completing the installation process, a screen appears to restrict you from entering the password (no slot available to enter the password, in other cases, the system allows you to enter the password but even though you enter the correct password, it says “Password incorrect” error) but, whenever you hit on the “Sign In” option, it just displays an incorrect password message and doesn’t provide any other recovery option.
Please note that the methods like restarting the PC several times, switching the PC to safe mode(it does not let you go safely because the same lock screen appears to display the password incorrect bug), and other startup problems fixing methods may not fix this bug.
Methods to avoid this bug:
First, please back up all of your data to an external drive. In case any problem persists, you have a chance to restore all the data including your OS (by using the system recovery image from the recovery environment). To do this, prefer the following steps.
- Go to “Control panel” and select “System and Security”.
- Click on “Backup and Restore”
- Click on “Set up backup” and then chose the external USB disk from the list to backup the data.
Now, download the fresh Windows 11 ISO file from the official site of Microsoft. Prefer the following steps:
- Go to the official site:
https://www.microsoft.com/software-download/windows11 - Go to the option “Create Windows 11 Installation Media” and download the media creation tool by clicking on the “Download now” option.
- Install it and the tool automatically detects the best suit Windows edition for your PC. Click the “Next” option.
- Now, I recommend you select the second option “ISO file” because the error may persist if a media creation tool is used to make bootable media by selecting the option “USB flash drive” and you should re-download another 4 GB+ OS data from the beginning.
Check the downloaded ISO file in your PC and make the blank USB flash drive with at least 8 GB size handy to create bootable media by using Rufus.
Follow the following steps:
- Go to the official site:
https://rufus.ie/en/ - Download the latest version by selecting it from the list as shown below.
- Now select your external flash drive and ISO file from your PC.
- Make sure which partition scheme MBR or GPT is used by your PC. To do this, go to disk management > Right-click on the Primary Disk > Click on ‘Property” > Hardware > Double left-click on the disk > Volumes > Populate. Then you see as shown in the following image.
- Once you click “Start” on Rufus, a pop-up window appears. Just check the first two options and then click “OK” and wait until the process is complete.
The root of the Bug:
This strange bug appeared when you select more options (more than the first two options) in the pop-up windows of Rufus. Don’t let Rufus create a local account with the specific username as shown in the figure.
In conclusion, a clean installation of Windows 11 can help address various performance issues and allow you to enable desirable features of the latest Windows 11. The "Password Incorrect Bug" prevents users from entering their password correctly or accessing recovery options. Restarting the PC, switching to safe mode, or applying other startup problem fixes may not resolve this bug. If you are using Rufus, it is advisable to create bootable media by ensuring that only the necessary options are selected as selecting additional options in Rufus can trigger the bug.
