TLDRvia the TL;DR App

Launching a product on Product Hunt? I might have an insight or four for you…

After passing the 1000 upvote count with one of my products and getting a golden kitten nomination for it, and winning #1 in Tech on launch day with a second product, I think that I’m in a place that I can share my strategy, it’s simple, and it worked for me.

  1. Make a noise like you’ve never done before on social media and forums. Join groups prior, interact there, talk to people, make friends and don’t be afraid to push as hard as possible, they’ll vote if you deserve it.
  2. Take everyone you know by the nose and lead them to vote and comment for you, yes, your network is the foundation, and they provide the social proof required in the next step.
  3. Own a community before you launch i.e. users or connect with people who manage communities and get help from them (of course only in exchange for previously offered value, this might take some time to build as well).
  4. Have a list of relevant Journalists and send them an email about the launch, a day prior preferably. This way they’ll follow the launch. Don’t expect anything, they might publish on the same day or a few days later or not at all, it’s up to them. Even if they didn’t respond, they’re in the loop, and when you’ll make it big, they’ll have your email.

These actions might help you enter the 1000 club, and from there you might get enough attention to be nominated for the the golden kitten award.

Would love to know your launch strategy…and if this post helped you in anyway, I’d really appreciate your upvote on my nomination at the 2016 Golden Kitten award, this is my app.

Update: We won the runner up for best Chrome extension of 2016! Thank you all for your support! :)
