Monday, March 22 marks the 25th anniversary of the original Resident Evil game. To celebrate the occasion, Capcom shared some new details on the next main installment for the series, Resident Evil Village, which launches later this May. Per Capcom, a new Resident Evil Showcase event will be held in April, and there will also be an open beta test for the upcoming multiplayer experience Resident Evil Re:Verse.
Resident Evil Showcase will be a digital event in April that will reveal new game details on Resident Evil Village. The event will showcase new game content and also some 25th anniversary news as well. The exact date and time for the digital event will be revealed at a later time.
The open beta test for Resident Evil Re:Verse will start on April 7 at 11:00 pm PDT and will run through April 10 at 10:59 pm PDT. Gamers on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Steam will be able to participate in the open beta test. Additionally, players who participated in the earlier closed beta test and still have the game installed on their hardware will be able to play with a game update once the beta is live. New players can pre-load the open beta content starting on April 5. The open beta test will require a Capcom ID in order to play.

Resident Evil Village Digital, Deluxe, & Collector’s Edition Releases

Additionally, the game will be available with Digital Standard and Deluxe Editions across all platforms, along with Physical Standard, Deluxe, and Collector’s Editions for console players. Players who buy into the Deluxe Edition will receive the base game, a digital Trauma Pack, which includes the Samurai Edge, a Resident Evil 7 found footage screen filter, a tape recorder save point option, immediate access to a new difficulty setting, and more. The Collector’s Edition includes all the Deluxe Edition content, plus a statue of Chris Redfield, a Steelbook case, an artwork book, and a cloth map of the village with key art on the reverse side.
Resident Evil Village hits the shelves on May 7, 2021. The game will be available for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Windows PC via Steam, and Google Stadia.
