TLDRvia the TL;DR App

Many people like to think history is something that is permanent and unchanging, but in reality, the way society collectively views it is always evolving. Different times interpret past events in different ways. And when it comes to history, there is a trinity of interaction that exists; there are people who are making it, the scribes that are recording it, and the bystanders who read about it later.

Being a part of Everipedia, it has been my job of sorts to be a scribe. That is why I can relate to The_GodmotHER who documents what she thinks is not only important but cool on Genius (formerly Rap Genius). Chasten Buttigieg could very well be a part of history soon as the future First Husband in The White House. Izabella Kaminska has been fascinated by Roman history since her youth and is now an Editor for the Financial Times writing articles that scholars are sure to study later. Douglas Horn is trying to make his mark on history with the underdog EOSIO-based blockchain he is developing, TELOS. And You Matter-Not Alone aims to make an impact in people’s lives through suicide and mental health awareness. Learn more about this week’s nominees of the Everipedia Culture Roundup below. Enjoy!

The_GodmothHER enjoying herself at an event

The_GodmotHER

British scholar and editor Riri Panini, better known by her Genius username The_GodmotHER, has established herself as the premier scribe for the UK Genius community. Formerly known as Rap Genius, Genius is a platform that allows people to look up and find the meaning of lyrics, and has a vibrant community of editors worldwide that contribute to it. Noticing the lack of vibrant UK artists on Genius, especially women, The_GodmotHer took it upon herself to transcribe and interpret their lyrics. Some of the artists she has covered include Jorja Smith, Ella Mai, Connie Constance, and many others. It’s editors like The_GodmotHER who are the lifeblood of community knowledge bases like Genius and her contributions will be even more valuable in the future when students study today’s contemporary music culture. We appreciate your service!

Chasten Buttigieg speaking at a Human Rights Campaign Event

Chasten Buttigieg

As the First Gent of South Bend, Chase Buttigieg has been catapulted into the spotlight due to his husband Pete gaining traction in his run for President. The theater advocate has since left his job as an educator to help Pete run his campaign but has also been growing in notability as well. On Twitter, he boasts over 229k followers and has cultivated a following interested in his commentary and updates about his husband. If Pete is elected President, Chase would make history as the first ‘First Husband’ ever. Until then, Chasten will just have to pass the time taking care of their dogs (the First Canines of South Bend) and helping with the campaign however he can.

Izabella Kaminska speaking at an event

Izabella Kaminska

Journalist Izabella Kaminska is the Financial Times FT Alphaville Editor and covers everything from repurchase agreements to cryptocurrency. In her youth, she was fascinated by the Roman Empire, and today her coverage of the crypto industry has led her to become a popular voice on Crypto Twitter. If there is one thing for sure, she is not afraid to call out people from her account. I learned of that last week after I tweeted her page from the main Everipedia account with several mistakes on it (I should have known better not to proofread pages I make at 2 am). Although I am embarrassed by my typos, I am happy that she was concerned enough to point out the mistakes publically, it shows that she really cares and pays attention to detail. So Izabella I am sorry for my mistakes again and I hope one day we can have pierogi together, on me!

A picture of Douglas Horn

Douglas Horn

If you haven’t heard the honk yet, Douglas Horn is facilitating some pretty big moves in the world of EOS. Seeing how EOS could be improved, Douglas is shepherding the development of TELOS, a public blockchain built on EOSIO software. With no token sale, a whitepaper, and a group of 130 individuals, Horn successfully launched TELOS and as the CEO of one of the platform’s most prominent company’s, GoodBlock, is leading dApp development and future blockchain improvements. The efforts of sheer by Horn is quite impressive to say the least! Previously, Horn worked in the entertainment industry, designing and producing mass-market games for Disney, Pokémon International, and Warner Bros. Horn has established himself to be a respected developer in the EOS community and it will be interesting how forks of EOS like TELOS develop down the road.
