October is the most highlighted month when it comes to cancer awareness and it is the right thing to do as breast cancer is the most commonly occurring cancer in women and the most common cancer overall. There were more than 2.26 million new cases of breast cancer in women in 2020.

There are many organisations out there who are doing an amazing job in cancer research, cancer awareness, cancer patients care and treatment but when it comes to web3, we can see a lack of cancer awareness in general, but we need to see more creators building around social missions in general.

There are artists who creates art and starts auctions, donating parts of the sales to NGOs, cancer research organisation and so on. One of the creator is Izzy, the founder of Women Tribe.

who is launching a special NFT in honor of this year’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month. 75% of proceeds will go to the Susan G Komen organisation.

There are NFTs projects built on chain with the purpose of having a social impact around cancer awareness as well. One of the project is Tutti Frutti Women, born to empower women who fight against cancer and to raise cancer awareness. The project is not launched yet, but once it will be minted out, there will be donations made for cancer support organisation and a fund reserved for holders to encourage early detection.

As many of other NFT projects which come with other perks, the holders of Tutti Frutti Women will enter a $30k raffle and other benefits for holders as well.

But why should you contribute to cancer awareness?

If you are lack of emphasis, you can look at the below numbers as at some figures, if not, then congrats, you are a beautiful human being.

Cancer is one of the leading causes of death worldwide, accounting for 10 million deaths in 2020.

As per WHO, the most common causes of CANCER DEATHS in 2020 were: lung (1.80 million deaths); colon and rectum (916k deaths); liver (830k deaths); stomach (769k deaths); breast (685k deaths).

Cancer impacts people of all ethnicities, sexual identities, and economic backgrounds. Nobody can guarantee that we will not be on that list at some point. It is the cruel truth and that’s why you should get involved in raising cancer awareness, which leads to prevention and early detection.

In a new study, researchers from the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) and partner institutions provide a global overview of the burden of breast cancer in 2020 and estimate the impact this disease will have in 2040. The authors predict that by 2040 the breast cancer burden will increase to more than 3 million new cases per year (an increase of 40%) and more than 1 million deaths per year (an increase of 50%). The study was published in the journal The Breast.

How can you contribute to cancer awareness in web3?

For builders on the web3, pay it forward. Raise cancer awareness, create art to empower warriors, donate part of the profits to cancer organisations.

Putting your health first and sharing it with your web3 community, will inspire someone. No matter what role you play in this space, you can definitely have a positive impact.

Do you have a personal experience with cancer? Share it with your audience. It is everything about inspiration.

Look out for projects in the space which are aiming to raise cancer awareness and support them, it’s that simple.
