This story is a part of Hacker Noon's Meet the Writer series of interviews. The series is intended for tech professionals contributing the most insightful Hacker Noon stories to share more about their writing habits, ideas, and professional background (and maybe a hobby or two). If you too would like to start contributing to Hacker Noon, you can do so here.

So let’s start! Tell us a bit about yourself. For example, name, profession, and personal interests.

I'm Mathew Georghiou and I make things as a CEO, entrepreneur, engineer, inventor, designer, and writer.

I’ve designed educational games, simulations, mobile apps, board games, card games, toys, books, and more.

I’ve been working with technology since the original Atari and Vic 20 in the 1970s and 80s.

I started my career as a computer/electrical engineer with IBM and then started my first company when I was 26.

My work has reached millions of people around the world.

My main personal interests are creating things and playing sports.

Companies I have founded and operate are MediaSpark, GoVenture, GoVenture World, businessXP, lokol, brandmetal, Klever Toys

Interesting! What was your latest Hackernoon Top story about?

This was my first and only story on Hackernoon and it made the front page, thank you!

Using Space Invaders to Prove All Games are Educational

I have a few more stories to post in the coming weeks.

Do you usually write on similar topics? If not, what do you usually write about?

I write about educational games and simulations and business.

I create articles, books, and videos about these topics.

I’m also about to publish two books, one on business and entrepreneurship and the other on personal finance and investing.

Great! What is your usual writing routine like (if you have one?)

I create a lot of content so I’m always working on it.

No specific routine as I run several businesses at the same time.

Being a writer in tech can be a challenge. It’s not often our main role, but an addition to another one. What is the biggest challenge you have when it comes to writing?

Making sure the story is meaningful and follows a proper flow.

I also focus on simplicity in writing to make my content easy to read and understand.

That takes a lot effort.

What is the next thing you hope to achieve in your career?

I work on multiple things at the same time, but I think the biggest impact I can have on the world is with my new businessXP program which provides an alternative to business school. businessXP is a mashup and culmination of my life’s work.

Wow, that’s admirable. Now, something more casual: What is your guilty pleasure of choice?

Watching television has always been my one, and perhaps only, guilty pleasure.

Do you have a non-tech-related hobby? If yes, what is it?

Playing sports. Mostly basketball as it helped fund my college education. But also soccer and other sports.

I also enjoy cooking and the science of it.

What can the Hacker Noon community expect to read from you next?

More on how gaming will forever change education.

Thanks for taking time to join our “Meet the writer” series. It was a pleasure. Do you have any closing words?
