2019update: New article out of the owen:

A adventure inside medium.com TOP 30.000 posts by number of hyperlinks in each post._Data visualization of the top 30.000 posts on medium:_medium.com

In total, there were, in January 2017, 3251 articles tagged Android on medium, written by 1550 persons.

If you want to read all of them, you would need to read 6 hours per day, every day, for 30 days.

Time required to read just the TOP 200 articles ? 30 minutes every day, for 30 days.

How many articles were written by a woman ?

5 out of 200. 2.5%

Cara Meverden 73rd rank

Emma Guy 142nd rank

Diana Kimball Berlin 149th rank

Margaret Maynard-Reidmargaretmz 174th rank

Anita Singh 196th rank

This does not mean that if you will add a lot of images, you will get good recommends. Not at all. Even without validating for other variables, we can see that the average reading time is 5–6 minutes, for the posts with 6–9 images, compared to 2 minutes for posts without a image.

There is the possibility that between posts with 0 images, to be some comments included.

So there could be that the average reading_time to be more important then he number of photos. I did not tested this, but you can download the CSV file from this gist

NOTE. The data is old, I have collected the data in December 2016 — January 2017.

Last year i have been to the USA for 3 months, in City of San Francisco, learning entrepreneurship at Draper University.

I started scrapping medium.com with the aim of getting myself noticed as a Data Scientist, so that i can get employed / join a startup as a Data Scientist / Growth Hacker. I now have a 20Gb database with 6 million posts from medium.

I returned in Romania in January, with the plan to find a opportunity to return to the states until December 2017. And then, the Romanian government fucked my plan.

In February, the government of Romania wanted to legalize corruption and bribe. Via a FB page that i founded 2 years ago, Corruption Kills, I dedicated my time facilitating the organization of the biggest protests in the history of Romania ( around 600k persons participated) ( we used Slack a lot ) and also did some civic projects, and for the last 6 months I did not had time until now to play with the data that i got from Medium.

BUCHAREST, Feb 10 (Reuters) — On Feb. 1, hours after Romania’s government issued a decree seen as turning back the clock on the country’s fight against corruption, Florin Badita took unpaid leave from his job in the western city of Cluj and left for the capital Bucharest to help mobilise a response.

It was not his first time.

Through the Facebook page Coruptia Ucide (Corruption Kills) that he created in 2015, Badita had helped rally protesters after a fatal fire tore through Bucharest’s Colectiv nightclub in October that year. The government fell, toppled by an outpouring of anger against a culture of official graft and negligence that had enabled the club to flout safety regulations.

A little over a year later, Badita was hunkered down in a damp basement apartment off Bucharest’s Victory Square with a handful of other activists bent over laptops posting links, uploading videos and consulting over protest times.

“These protests don’t have leaders,” said the lanky 28-year-old map analyst, “at best they have facilitators.”
