TLDRvia the TL;DR App

With the launch of Scorum Draft, the daily fantasy sports platform where players will be able to win Scorum Coins tokens (SCR), the evolution of sports media takes its first step.

The competitive nature of fans across the world brings them closer to the sports they love and lets them put a little skin in the game. This time, however, there will be no fees to pay and all the spoils will go directly to the winners.

As part of Scorum’s comprehensive next-generation sports media platform, daily fantasy sports gives members a fun and engaging way to connect and compete with other fans around the world. Initially, it will only be available for football/soccer, but the dynamic nature of Scorum’s platform will allow expansion in any direction the community demands!

We won’t make a dime on it either, and here’s why we’re totally okay with that:

  • Early Adoption: By launching the soccer FS prototype during the crowdsale, our goal is to attract end-users into the Scorum platform as early as possible. Scorum is being created for the fans, not for cryptocurrency speculators. To that end we want the first people “in the door” to be fans that love soccer so much they want to play fantasy leagues for free.
  • Instant Use Case: As soon as our blockchain is launched and SCR lands in buyer’s accounts, our fantasy sports league players get the chance to buy-in and pay-out with SCR. It will be up to the league commissioner to set the terms for buy-in, but once again Scorum will take no fee for this. Scorum’s benefit is the instant utility of the SCR cryptocurrency.
  • Game of Skill: The commission-free betting exchange will be a great part of Scorum, but unfortunately local regulations will prohibit us from offering it to all our users. Fantasy sports are considered a game of skill rather than a form of gambling, allowing us to offer SCR Fantasy leagues to a wide range of users all over the world. Aside from boring legal reasons, playing fantasy sports is FUN and taps into the competitive soul of the fans.

Who Plays Fantasy Sports?

The FSAT estimates that in the US and Canada last year one in five people actively took part in fantasy sports for a total of almost 60 million participants. This is up from 32 million in 2010 with participation data showing consistent growth year over year since 2003.

Of these players, over one-third were teenagers and the average age of fantasy sports participants is 38 years old. Players over the age of 18 spend an average of $556 dollars per year to participate in fantasy sports.

All of this interest in fantasy sports competition drives further engagement with sports media with nearly two-thirds of fantasy players saying that they watch more live sports AND read more sports coverage as a result of their participation in fantasy leagues.

Bearing these figures mind, Scorum’s value proposition offers fantasy sports players a one-stop platform for watching and reading coverage of their favorite sports along with integrated leagues where they can use SCR tokens to buy-in and compete with their friends and other users.

Stats + Fantasy: the perfect pairing

Scorum’s statistics center provides all the latest info for fantasy sports players of every level to make smart plays and out-wit the competition. As our beta version shows, fans can keep track of action from across several leagues with our multiple match viewer as seen below:

All the games in one place

Along with game tracking, Scorum members can quickly track and investigate the performances of the individual players they select for their team or for prospective players they are thinking of trading for.

Don’t care to dig into all the stats yourself? The journalists @scorumstats are here to crunch the numbers and share useful nuggets of number-wizardry with all.

Look at that. We got a little carried away. That’s two puzzle pieces in place, nicely fitted together to kickstart the Scorum community. To see how the rest will line up, check out our roadmap.
