I am Dmitry Mishunin, and for the last 5 years, I’ve been the CEO of HashEx – a tier-1 security and intelligence operation for DeFi. The company performs audits, creates tools for the decentralized market, and popularizes the idea that crypto has to be safe.
The Crypto world, as well as IT and technology, have been my interests for many years now – it was exciting to watch this grow from an idea into a huge system that could rival classical banking.
Aside from that, I provide comments to IT media, attend events as a speaker, and enjoy recreational sports.

Do you usually write on similar topics? If not, what do you usually write about?
Working in security with HashEx, I have to follow all the updates and biggest security breaches, so naturally, this is the topic I want to discuss the most.
In HashEx, we usually publish these articles on our website and blogs, and it’s always good to get the information out there and make it a discussion topic. This is how we make security an issue that doesn’t only pose questions but provides answers.
Great! What is your usual writing routine like (if you have one?)
It’s way more mundane than it sounds. Usually, the process starts with several days or weeks of research and gathering data, sometimes just watching the market. Then there’s your story.
Sometimes ideas come in a conversation or just from reading news or contemplating issues. When it comes to imagining possible future developments, this is pretty much the way to go.
Being a writer in tech can be a challenge. It’s not often our main role, but an addition to another one. What is the biggest challenge you have when it comes to writing?
The hardest thing is to sit down and deliver the material in a digestible way so that readers don’t stumble upon complicated terms and understand the point of the text.
And it’s not always easy to spread the thoughts over several pages. You get an idea, boil it down and end up with two sentences that pretty much reflect the point.
What is the next thing you hope to achieve in your career?
My goal is to establish HashEx as the number 1 DeFiSecurity and Intelligence company – make it the standard of DeFi security. Our mission is to bring back trust in blockchain, especially for regular users.
The technology provides massive possibilities but gets incredibly bad rep because of scammers. I want to change that.
Wow, that’s admirable. Now, something more casual: What is your guilty pleasure of choice?
Vegging, either on a couch or somewhere warm with a hookah. Sleeping in as well, but that’s something everyone can probably relate to.
Do you have a non-tech-related hobby? If yes, what is it?
I do, a few actually: track racing, jogging, snowboarding, kite surfing, and cross-stitching.
What can the Hacker Noon community expect to read from you next?
I want my next article to be about how to become a smart contracts auditor. It’s not as impossible as it seems! And of course, we continue to research blockchain vulnerabilities. So, pretty soon you can expect a new article about DeFi Security.
What’s your opinion on HackerNoon as a platform for writers?
One of the best things about Hackernoon is that it’s unlike tabloid-style investigations about literally everything. You collect opinions and ideas from thinking people. It’s important to have a source of well-researched information, and users value this.
