We’re back! In this week’s tech company brief, we noticed a dip in Microsoft’s popularity (12%) while Apple remained trendy AF despite a similar decline in interest (11.3%).

Apple took the top spot in Hackernoon's Tech Company ratings and it’s easy to see why. The iPhone manufacturer is just a week away from its annual flagship event World Wide Developers Conference and the internet is already buzzing with news of iOS16 and a long-rumored virtual and augmented reality headset.

Trailing behind Apple was billionaire Jeff Bezos' favorite vehicle for world domination: Amazon. Bezos — who may or may not be a supervillain — hasn't been in the news lately. However, his e-commerce giant has been making waves in India where it plans to develop software for its consumer robots and produce more films in the South Asian country of 1.38 billion people.

Microsoft claimed the third spot this week though interest in the company seems to be waning. With an already 12% decline in trending interest according to Hackernoon's tech tracker, it remains to be seen whether Microsoft will remain in the Top 5 for long.

Meanwhile, major cryptocurrency exchange platform Coinbase remains unchanged at #4. The company recently became the first cryptocurrency company to enter the Fortune 500, joining the likes of Apple, Microsoft, and Amazon as one of 500 companies that generate the most revenue in the U.S.

Also on the Fortune 500 is Intel Corp. which took the #5 spot on Hackernoon's tech leaderboard this week. True to form, the king of semiconductor chip manufacturing has been keeping low but was in the news earlier this month for attempting to thwart Nvidia Corp.'s dominance in the AI chip market with a product called Gaudi2.
