TLDRvia the TL;DR App

Am I doing this the right way? I haven’t really defined any goals / points where I could say that I found product market fit or something like that.

In this series I’ll validate a new idea. Read about the concept here (Day 0) and the idea here (Day 1).

I already talked to two people with very high Quora-Output who said that they answer every second or third question they look at. If everyone is like that than my validation is unsuccessful. That led to the question:

At which point could I consider findbetterquestions.com to be a fail? 📉

I can think of two methods for validation:

  1. Talk to people and trust your gut ✨
  2. Sell 💵

An easy way to validate is actually selling something. When someone gives you their money, you know that they actually want it. There are many things you can do to validate an idea. Building an MVP is one of them, but a list of things you can do won’t be enough. You need a personalized strategy and that’s something I probably didn’t spend too much time on. If you’re interested in processes for validation, I recommend this article. But I know no resources who tell you at which point you should shut a thing down.

My strategy

As I outlined in day 0 of this series, I don’t plan on charging anyone before launch, so I have to go with gut instinct. But I can still create some metrics around that. That’s my draft:

  • Explain the product Best done with images (on landing page)

  • Ask the following to people already using Quora:How many questions do you look at for every one you answer?

  • If 30 people respond with an average below 10, that’s not a good sign 😕

I’m very curious at the moment!

Oh, and for the ones curious about what I’ve actually done today: Just a little boring product work. Tell me if you’re interested in more details there.

The plan for tomorrow

  • Write landing copy
  • Decide how to make landing (Template, antd, …?)
