NVIDIA’s GTC 2023 offers more than 650 special events, sessions, and expert panels across technologies, industries, and skill levels.
The world has witnessed some incredible developments in AI during the past 6 months. ChatGPT shook up the internet with its ability to mimic research papers and provide thorough and seemingly intelligent answers to commonly googled questions. Through these innovations, it is evident that Generative AI has the potential to revolutionize the way we create, imagine, and design.
With its ability to generate complex, realistic, and diverse outputs, Generative AI is rapidly transforming a variety of industries, from entertainment to healthcare. One of the key advantages is that it can learn from large datasets, enabling it to generate diverse and creative content.
Let’s take an example of generating AI-based potential accident scenarios for autonomous vehicles.
Generative AI can generate completely new and original pieces with a fresh and unique AI output, which opens the door to many applications where rare data is needed and has enormous potential for a wide variety of use cases. For instance, autonomous vehicles (AVs) must be able to safely handle any traffic scenario that could be encountered in the real world. This includes hazardous near accidents, where an unexpected maneuver by other road users in traffic could lead to a collision.
However, developing and testing AVs in these types of scenarios is challenging. Real-world collision data is sparse, and recreating such situations in the real world is dangerous and difficult to scale. NVIDIA developed a method called STRIVE (Stress-Test Drive) to create a rich set of accident scenarios for an AV planner. The planner’s behavior can be improved by analyzing where it fails in simulation and correcting it before deploying on the real road.
To learn about recent research from NVIDIA that uses AI to automatically generate accident scenarios in simulation for safe and scalable AV testing, watch the
