For the past six weeks I’ve been learning JavaScript and I wrote about my experience while I was at it.Today I’m confident enough to say I can work efficiently with JavaScript. Why?.
At the end of the course (JavaScript), I was given a project to build a music player based on what I had learnt so far.Today I’m happy to tell you that after a week of writing,experimenting and debugging, I succeeded in creating my first web application.
Here what I learnt while creating the music player:
- Take a break
Whenever you feel like your mind isn’t in the right place to think through a solution/when you’re starting to feel frustrated..It’s time to step away from your computer and go out for fresh air.
2.Google and stack overflow
On your journey to becoming a better programmer, google and stack overflow have to be part of your routine.In fact google and stack overflow are God’s gift to developers so as a junior developer trying to get better,use these tools..they help a great lot.
3.Go Back
If you feel you no longer understand how one thing or the other works,it’s 100% okay to go back to your manual/book/tutorial video.The more you go over it, the better the understanding you’d have.
4.Ask Questions
Whenever you’re stuck and don’t know how to go about it or even after doing the aforementioned you still feel you need extra help,don’t be scared to ask fellow developers you can get in touch with..discuss your problem,what you think the solution should be and ask where you’re getting it wrong..you’d be surprised how much you can learn from asking a human.
